Impermanence Within

So far, it is easy to speak about change outside.
The seasons change.
The body changes.
Relationships change.
Circumstances change.
But what about within?
What about our ideas?
Our beliefs?
Our opinions?
Our perceptions?
What about the idea of who we are?
The great question, “Who am I?” is often treated as if there is one final answer waiting somewhere.
But look closely.
The answer keeps changing.
Who you were at five is not who you were at fifteen.
Who you were at fifteen is not who you were at thirty.
Who you were yesterday may not be exactly who is reading this now.
And yet, the mind tries to create continuity.
It gathers memories, preferences, wounds, victories, labels, roles, and conclusions.
Then it says:
This is me.
And once this “me” is formed, the mind begins to defend it.
